It works if I revert to an older version of the Intel HD drivers for 7th gen as suggested by drivers version 15. Worked: (I cannot find a version of Blender from the last few years that works with the latest Intel drivers!)
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 370 Intel Core i5 7th gen.Ģ.78 f3d9f0c 64 bit both standard and the experimental vc14 compilers, Intel and Lenovo display drivers behave the same.
